Ask the questions you think are too basic. In my experience, the naive question is what cuts through to the insight that matters.
On one thing you always come back to
In their words
What are you looking for in an industrial tech founder?
Genuine founder-problem fit: deep understanding of, network within, and passion for the opportunity space they’re entering into.
What did you do before Runway?
M&A and strategy for large industrial clients in Bain & Co.
What are you known for at RunwayVC?
Passionate and competitive spirit with people always at the heart of it.
What are you obsessing over right now?
Physical AI: the moment robotics and automation stop being semi-integrated in industrial operations and start doing end-to-end, real work, by themselves in real environments. I’m excited about founders bringing modern AI to industries that software mostly skipped: energy, shipping, mining, manufacturing. The labor gap in physical industries is structural, and the timing has never been better.
One question you always ask?
Who is your first painful yes customer, and what did it take?
